Slide # 2 - Synovial Membrane

High magnification view of the surface of an area of synovial membrane. Note the very loose, fibro-elastic connective tissue (CT) and the numerous blood vessels (BV). The synovial membrane surface is covered by an incomplete lining of synovial cells or synovocytes (SC) which appear to be modified fibroblasts, and together with other connective tissue cells, contribute hyaluronic acid and glycoproteins to the synovial fluid.
