Low power micrograph of an area of areolar (loose fibroelastic) connective tissue taken from the visceral peritoneum. This is NOT a section, but rather a whole, three-dimensional block of tissue. The result is that there is some depth to the slide and by focusing up and down, cells and fibres can be followed as then pass vertically through different optical planes or slices of the tissue.
